DIY Stenciled Wood Sign
We have this dry erase map that Kyle loves to plan our trips with, document all our adventures, and mark down our wish-list for places to go. It's definitely a fun accent to our home, and always sparks a ton of conversations with guests. I wanted to make a wooden sign for above the map to add some decoration.
We got this piece of wood from a "free wood" pile on the side of the road! I first traced the outline of my letters using these stencils and a pencil. Then I painted the letters in with acrylic paint and made the letters more bold to cover up the pencil lines. In retrospect, I wish I had laid out a straight line with a level or ruler before stenciling, because sometimes it bugs me that the phrase is a bit crooked.
Otherwise I love this little addition to our home! Being a military wife has definitely taught me that it's not necessarily where you are that matters, but who you're with! Here's a sneak peak at the corner of our cute and tiny loft, where we have this map and sign.
