Garage Sale Treasure
There were some neighborhood garage sales one weekend around here, and while we were driving around them I couldn't stop staring at this painting someone had leaning up against their house. We went to a few other sales and finally I asked Kyle if we could turn around and go to the painting one. I didn't completely LOVE it, but I was drawn to it, and happily paid $5 to take it home!
When we got home I decided to give it some love, because the painting was really dusty and kind of old, and the sides of the canvas were stained. I don't normally paint, but I kind of want to learn, so I got out my paints and just tried to revamp the painting.
Of course Roxy had to be by my side the entire time, playing with the paintbrushes and water. It took Kyle and both my in-laws who were visiting to continually entertain Roxy so I could paint!!!
I have no idea if I did it "right", I used my fingers to smear the paint a lot, but I had fun, and was pleased with the results. Then I added some paper embellishments with Mod Podge from my favorite designer of scrapbooking supplies, K & Company.
Now the painting is hanging in my office along with my "new" bulletin board and I love it!! $5 for a treasure, not bad! So here's another excuse to go garage sale-ing this coming weekend- you may find something to spark your creativity and add to your home's decor!
PS) Many thanks to Kyle for all these wonderful photos!!
