Somedays, I just feel in my whole body and soul, that I need the ocean. This was one of those weeks for me! Finally I just forced myself to stop what I was doing and go sit beside the sea. I packed a bag of resumes, applications, books I'm trying to get through, and I bless the part of me that packed my sketchbook, pen, and paintbrush just in case.
I made a quick stop for my happy day drink: coconut iced coffee from Dunkies, and finally ended up where I was supposed to be, on the beach. Sitting there by myself on my beach towel, watching the waves, listening to the seagulls and the wind, feeling the sun, I felt the healing come to me already!
There seemed to be only one thing that I should do: draw what I see. I am not a very good artist when it comes to drawing, but I do want to get better! I have been wanting to try this pen and paintbrush with water technique ever since I learned about it from one of my all time favorite artist blogs here.
This technique was so much fun! It made me feel like a painter, even though really I was mainly using my pen. I was so happy when a little seagull decided to sit beside me. He even posed for me for as long as it took me to draw him!
Ah what a blissful day. I love how nature just quiets my soul, and art seems to clear my head from the chaos that sometimes goes on there. I hope wherever you are, you can find your little happy escape today.
