Rustic Headboard DIY
This project, like so many great DIY ideas, started with a "free wood" sign and a sweet husband willing to tear some things apart on the side of the road for me. =) We couldn't fit the whole fence piece in the car so Kyle took the pieces apart, and I ended up being glad he did because I got to arrange them staggered in the end.
For this project, we cleaned the wood with a cleaner but didn't really sand it because we liked how worn it looked already. Then I painted the boards dark brown, then coated with crackle medium, and painted an ivory shade on top of the crackle.
After the coats of paint had dried, I arranged the boards how I liked, and Kyle nailed a piece of wood across the back of them to hold them in place.
I love how the crackle came out subtle, but still noticeable up close and gives the rustic feel.
Ta-da! I love how our headboard enhances our little bedroom!
